Tender Mercies

Have you ever had a moment, where you could look at a situation in two ways, and you realize that you are being tested? Bruce and I experienced one of those moments the other day. Bruce had gone to play racquetball with Glen and on the way home had one of his hearing aides and his blue tooth in his lap. When he got out of the car he forgot they were in his lap and they fell on the ground, unknown to him. Well Glen backed up and left. Later Bruce realized he had lost his pricey toys! At first he thought he just left them in Glen's car, and he was going to walk down to get them from Glen's house. As he left the house, he soon discovered they were on the driveway. The blue tooth had been crushed (a $100+ loss), But sitting right next to it was his hearing aide ($1000 value) it was untouched! Unbelievable, that it was not the thing under the wheel. In my mind it was nothing short of a tender mercy, and my mind was drawn to a talk given by Elder Bednar about tender mercies. We can look at life in two ways. Find ourselves with crushed blue tooth, or joy in our luck with working hearing aides.

My mind was drawn immediately to Nephi’s phrase “the tender mercies of the Lord,” and I knew in that very moment I was experiencing just such a tender mercy. What Are the Tender Mercies of the Lord? David A. Bednar
